Cultivate Catskill’s hardworking and talented volunteers have undertaken several ambitious projects over the years.
Last year, we introduced an initiative as an effort to beautify the village and town with sunny daffodils. Imagine seeing a sea of yellow flowers next spring all around the place!
The Howard Street slide, with its impressive plantings including spring bulbs and perennials, is an elegant mini “plaza” that continues to flourish and delight passers-by.

At Leggio Park, in addition to trees, shrubs, annuals, and an impressive urn at its center, we update it annually with colorful flowers. This year, look for new flowers to brighten up the park. Volunteers to help with watering and weeding are always appreciated!

Every year, we plant flowers throughout the village and parks including additional planters on Uncle Sam’s Bridge. This year, to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the USA, we opted for a red, white, and blue color scheme. Enjoy the petunias as you cross the bridge.
Our Tree Council has planted over fifty trees along Main Street. Every spring, enjoy the blossoms as these trees get fuller and taller. We’ll continue to prune and maintain them for your enjoyment. We’ve been working on creating a riparian buffer and pollinator garden along the Catskill Creek, an Arbor Day event, and a gradual transformation of the Catskill Cemetery into an arboretum (in collaboration with the Thomas Cole House).

Every summer, over 90 hanging baskets and dozens of urns along Main Street and Bridge Street are flush with colorful flowers that help turn our village into an inviting garden oasis. Due to the construction on Main Street, we are limited in what we can do this year, but the Bridge Street flowers are there for your enjoyment.

We continue to maintain the Blue Star Memorial Park and Policeman’s Park (both which were originally created by the Catskill Garden Club). That said, volunteers are always welcome to help us plant, water, or weed these lovely gardens.

We’re working to remove lots of invasive plants at Dutchman’s Landing and replanting some of the beds around the parking lot. Helpers are always welcome!
Working collaboratively with The Fortnightly Club of Catskill, we helped to raise funds and in 2024 successfully opened a Sprayground (a.k.a. splash pad or spray pool) for the enjoyment of children and adults alike. This handicap accessible sprayground is a safe and fun way to beat the heat for kids of all ages and abilities! It is a dream come true, thanks to the generosity of our residents and businesses. We hope to stop by to enjoy it this summer!
And working with the Greene County Historical Society, we launched a new project that to enhance the Village Cemetery with new signage and historical audio and video tidbits about the notable residents who helped to make Catskill what it is today. Use your smart phone to learn more about them
More ideas are budding every day!
